Creating a Trivia Quiz

Step 1: Create the experience
  1. From the top nav click Create New Experience
  2. In the Experience Details window, fill in:
    Field What to enter
Experience Name (required) What your players will see. Keep it short and specific — "Q3 Kickoff Trivia" beats "Trivia Game 4".
    Experience Type Choose Trivia.
Description Optional context for your team, up to 400 characters.
Cover Image Optional. Use a 16:9 image (1280×720 works well).
Save to Folder Optional. Drop it into an existing folder to keep things tidy.
  3. Click Next.

Tip: Only the name is required to get started. You can add a description or cover image any time from the Settings tab.

Step 2: Choose your format and scoring

You'll land on the Settings tab. The left side repeats what you just entered — edit anything you want to change. The right side is where you decide how the game actually plays.

Each question default duration

Set the default time limit for every question, using the slider or the number field. Thirty seconds is a good starting point for most multiple-choice questions.

You can override this on any individual question later, so don't overthink it here.

Format and scoring

Pick one:

  • Point Mode — Score by points with time-weighted answers. Faster correct answers earn more. This is the default and the best pick for most groups, because it keeps the leaderboard moving.
  • Survivor Mode — Incorrect answers eliminate players from winning. High tension, and great for a short game with a clear final showdown. Just know that players knocked out early will be spectating.
  • Correct Answers — Ranking is based on the number of correct answers, with no speed bonus. Use this when you want knowledge to be the only thing that matters.

Question selection

  • Play All Questions — Every question plays in the order you set. This is the default.
  • Random Select Questions — Choose how many questions to pull at random from your question bank. Great if you're running the same game with multiple groups, or want a bank of 40 questions and a 10-question game each time.

When you're happy, click Next: Add Questions.

Step 3: Add your questions

The Questions tab has three panels: your question list on the left, the question editor in the middle, and question properties on the right.

Build a question

  1. Click + Add Question at the bottom of the left panel (your first question is already waiting for you).
  2. In the middle panel, type your question in the What trivia question do you want to ask your audience? field.
  3. Fill in your answer options under Multiple-Choice Answers.
  4. Check the Correct box next to the right answer.
  5. Use the trash icon to remove an option you don't need.

Add media

Media makes a huge difference in how a game feels. In the Add Question and Media section you can:

  • Upload an image or GIF — drag and drop, or click to browse. Aim for 16:9 (1280×720).
  • Add a YouTube video — click Add YouTube Video and paste the link.
  • Add an image to an individual answer — click the small image icon on any answer row. Handy for "which logo is this?" style questions.

Set question properties

The right panel controls how this specific question behaves:

  • Question Type — the format for this question. Multiple Choice is the default.
  • Time Limit — overrides the default duration you set in Settings. Bump it up for questions with a video or a lot of reading.
  • Points — how much this question is worth. Weight your harder questions higher.
  • Post Answer Text — a note shown to players after they answer. This is where a game goes from fine to memorable: add the fun fact, the context, or the "believe it or not" detail behind the answer. Basic formatting (bold, italic, underline, lists) is available.

At the bottom of this panel, Duplicate copies the question — a fast way to build a series of similar questions — and Delete removes it.

Reorder questions

Drag any question card in the left panel using the handle on its left edge.

Import and export

Building a big question bank? Use Import at the top of the questions list to bring questions in from a spreadsheet instead of typing them one at a time. Export pulls your questions back out — useful for backing up a game or reusing it as the starting point for another.

Step 4: Preview before you launch

Click Preview in the top bar to see the game exactly as your players will. Check that:

  • Every question has a correct answer marked
  • Images and videos load and look right
  • Time limits feel reasonable when you read the question out loud
  • Your post-answer text doesn't have typos

Click Save whenever you want to keep your progress. Use Exit to leave the editor.

Step 5: Launch

When everything looks good, hit Launch to start a live session and get the join link for your players.

After the game, head to the Reporting tab to see how it went, and Summary for an overview of the experience.

Tips for a great trivia game
  • Mix the difficulty. Open with something almost everyone will get right — it pulls people in.
  • Vary the media. A run of ten text-only questions gets flat fast. Break it up with an image or a video.
  • Test the timing yourself. Read each question aloud at your normal pace. If you're still talking when the timer would end, add time.
  • Build a bank, then randomize. If you run trivia regularly, write 30–40 questions and use Random Select Questions so no two sessions are the same.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the format after I've added questions? Yes. Go back to the Settings tab at any time. Your questions stay put.

Do I have to set a time limit on every question? No. Every question inherits the default duration from Settings unless you override it.

Can I have more than one correct answer? Check the Correct box on each answer that should count.

Can I reuse a game? Yes — duplicate the experience from the All Experiences list, or export the questions and import them into a new game.

What happens to a player who joins late? They'll join at the current question and play from there.
